Elements of Witches & Wizards

Build the coven. Hold the lanes.

In development — Closed Arcanum test 2026

The Arcanum

Lane defence, rebuilt as a living town

Elements of Witches & Wizards is set in the world of the elementsofwitchesandwizards.com novels. You inherit a valley, raise a coven inside it, and hold back the corruption that arrives every night — using the same resources, the same people and the same tiles for both.

Raise a coven

Lay out districts, housing, quarries and study halls across a hex-tiled valley. Contented citizens generate the ambient mana your defences drink.

Hold twelve approaches

Corruption pushes inward from the treeline on any of twelve vectors — three to five activate each night, telegraphed at dusk by the colour of the mist.

Resonate the elements

Thirty-one adjacency resonances turn two towers into a third phenomenon: scalding fog, thorn gale, glass-frost. About a third are actively bad ideas.

Pay for the night

Towers degrade as they fight. Repairs cost the same labour that builds your city, so a bad night steals the next morning.

From the novels

Magic you operate, not magic you watch

The books describe magic through consequence and sensation rather than pictures. So we adapted the rules underneath: magic is relational, magic is old, magic costs the caster, and magic is frequently embarrassing.

  • Elemental effects are painted onto surfaces, never floated above them — fire behaves differently on bark, sap and moss.
  • Every rune is carved by a hand that had a bad angle to work at: weathered, slightly wrong, sometimes repaired badly.
  • Casters visibly become their specialism over the chapters — ash under the nails, the permanent squint of an air-caller.
